Skyline Airlines’ Riadel Manzano Spotlighted as Influential Professional in Aviation Maintenance

Senior Aircraft Mechanic Shares Insights on Transatlantic Flight Safety and Industry Challenges

Riadel Manzano, a Senior Aircraft Mechanic at Skyline Airlines, was recently featured in an in-depth interview spotlighting influential professionals in the field of aviation maintenance. The feature, titled "Keeping the Skies Safe: An Interview with Riadel Manzano," covers her journey from aviation enthusiast to expert mechanic, her role in ensuring transatlantic flight safety, and her advocacy for workforce development and diversity in the aviation industry.

The interview dives deep into the realities of transatlantic flight preparation, focusing on the rigorous checks and maintenance standards required to ensure aircraft are fit for long-distance travel over the Atlantic. "People think of pilots when they think of flight safety," Manzano shared during the interview. "But the flight can’t even leave the gate if it doesn’t pass inspection—and that’s on us."

Manzano, who operates out of LaGuardia Airport in New York, has over a decade of experience in aircraft maintenance. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance from Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology and is certified with an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, as well as advanced training in Avionics Systems and Composite Repair.

The interview also highlights her recent entrepreneurial venture—a training resource hub and maintenance toolkit brand aimed at supporting new aviation mechanics preparing for FAA certification. "I noticed that a lot of entry-level mechanics were struggling with access to practical tools and simplified guides," Manzano explained. "So I started working on my own materials—something easy to understand, affordable, and focused on real-world tasks."

Manzano’s commitment to safety and her drive to support the next generation of mechanics has made her a respected figure in the industry. Her advocacy for Right to Repair policies aims to give mechanics better access to diagnostic tools and repair manuals, helping to streamline maintenance and reduce costs for airlines.

"Aviation safety isn’t just about what happens in the air," Manzano stated during the interview. "It starts on the ground, with the mechanics who inspect, repair, and maintain every part of an aircraft."
