Military personnel may spend much of their careers in high-stress environments that expose them to combat-related trauma, with long periods spent away from home—all factors that can increase the risk of developing a substance dependency. According to the Department of Defense, about 34 percent of military members admit to engaging in binge drinking behaviors. Meanwhile, the U.S. Veteran’s Administration reports that one in ten veterans who seek care at VA health facilities meet the diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders.

Addiction Resource Center’s new program aims to address the unique challenges service members face, offering structured outpatient care backed by evidence-based treatment methods, flexible scheduling, and a focus on confidentiality. As a TriCare-approved provider, the center provides intensive outpatient treatment modules including individual and group therapy, trauma-informed care, and family counseling.

"Service members face intense demands both physically and mentally," said a representative for Addiction Resource Center. "Our TriCare-approved IOP gives them a safe and effective way to address substance use without stepping away from their military responsibilities."

By accepting TriCare insurance, Addiction Resource Center reduces financial barriers for military families. This partnership aims to lower out-of-pocket costs while maintaining high standards of care. The program also includes evening and weekend sessions to accommodate unpredictable duty schedules.

Military members or family beneficiaries under TriCare can begin by verifying their insurance coverage through the center’s website, followed by an assessment to determine the best treatment approach. Both in-person and telehealth options are available.

“Our clinicians are trained to work with issues such as PTSD, deployment-related stress, and reintegration challenges,” added Landreth. “This isn’t general rehab—it’s care designed for those actively serving our country.”
